My wonderful event planner Maria from URE Events (post below) and I are currently seeking a venue for the Benefit. It’s between a couple of locations. We are scheduled to meet with one venue this Friday 3/29 Over all I hope to set/confirm a date asap “)

4/3/13 Update: The walkthrough with Kevin Pena on 3/29 went well. He gave us a great offer. I have another great offer at another venue. I will decide by this weekend.

I just want to update everyone, I have set a date for my Viral Motivational Video, Sat April 6th at www.dtfradio.com

I will be posting the guests who will be appearing in the video, as they confirm. I want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Everyone who said yes, even the ones that can’t make it to the video shoot. I want to thank everyone who said they would help me and actually came through. I was referred to Dr. Dumas by Immigration Lawyer, Michael Musa. Michael is the first Immigration Lawyer that I spoke to about my mission, my cause. Over a year later he is still supporting & helping me. First time we spoke, he gave me so much advise, we spoke for about 45 mins. Even though we have yet to meet, I appreciate him immensely.

I spoke with Dr. Dumas earlier this week, I was overwhelmed when he informed me, he knows of a family. The father was deported back to Ecuador, the mother is in New York, with her child. I am sadden to hear their situation, yet excited to know I am getting help (from Dr. Dumas) and one step closer. Can we say… BITTERSWEET

I will be meeting with Dr. Dumas tomorrow, Nov 17th in his Jackson Heights office. We will be discussing K.i.D, what it’s about, what I will be offering. And to speak about the family. Hope to even speak with the mother via telephone. I really hope this will be my first ‘official’ K.i.D

FINALLY! Yes, I know, it’s been a long time in the making. As you all may know, I unfortunately had a very rough & bittersweet year.
 
Also, was told by a very wise man, to not rush these matters, especially when it’s something that is very important. I quote ‘You cant rush perfection’ Thank you! Therefore, I decided to take it very slow. Now I can gladly say we are in motion. After meeting Joana, from www.latinrecap.com we have decided on filming the video within the next 2-3 weeks. Thanks to Mark at www.dtfradio.com for the location, just waiting to finalize the date this week.

The video will be a short video, telling the viewer a little about K.i.D, why I am looking for Children of Deportees & my information to contact me. Being this is not the first we are hearing of deportaion & immigration, my video will be more motivational oppose to awareness. I need the parent(s)/guardian(s) and children to SPEAKUP!

The one main issue I have had is the parent, guardian of these children don’t know who I am. I am nobody, just another, regualr, voice! Through out this year, I have received a few referrals, yet nothing further than just that. No one want’s to meet me, they are afraid that I am a part of ICE or Immigration. This is my sole reason for the need of sponsors. To show Businesses, Organization’s, etc back me. I believe the Video will also help me in that aspect. It will show the online world, what I am trying to accomplish. All I can do is keep on striving, pray all goes well & hope the video comes out as I imagine.

Marisa reached out to me months back to become a contributor at www.LatinaLista.com Thanks to my first article with Latina Lista mentioned below (on this page) I received excellent feedback. I also had the privilege in meeting with interesting people and the article has helped spread my info along. Thank you so much Marisa!

Because of you, I meet (so far) people like Susan & Graham, Susan a writer and Graham a photographer both are working on an amazing project. (Details can’t be released as of yet) Graham found my tumblr site through Google while doing some research. He emailed me, asking if I can be a part of the project. Without hesitation I answered YES! We have meet & concluded my part of the project. I can’t wait till it’s finish, so everyone can see the hard work they have put in.

I received an email from Marisa a few weeks ago, it was an email she received from Anita a lovely lady from Story Corps Org. She wanted to reach me, I emailed her back. Turns out Anita wants to interview me to speak about my hardships through my teen years with out my mother. Of course I said YES! We scheduled the interview for Nov 17th (will post details)

Last but not least, I meet with Joana Gonzalez-Manriquez, Founder of www.latinrecap.com  Joana and her sister started up this great website on their own. For almost a year now they have been investing their FULL TIME into their business. Joana, emailed me telling me she is starting to film a documentary about Immigration. She asked me to be in it. Not only will I be in it, I have volunteered to help her in any way possible. As we spoke more about my story & K.i.D we agreed to work together on my viral video. She offered to film it for me. Date will be set this week.
